Since its founding in 1933, The Twig has donated more than $4.5 million to Inova Alexandria Hospital for a wide range of hospital equipment and initiatives.
Our current 3-year pledge for $500,000 will fund a Leica Breast Reconstruction Microscope and provide support to achieve a Level 3 Trauma program.
Some of our most recent pledges include $125,000 toward funding the on-site Simulation Skills Lab and the Patient Financial Assistance Fund; $1 million to renovate the Cardiovascular Neuroscience Intensive Care Unit (CVNICU) with infrastructure upgrades, state-of-the-art clinical space, private patient rooms and aesthetically pleasing surroundings with space for families, patients, and caregivers. The CVNICU renovations also increased patient room size, including private showers and bathrooms; space for family with room to sleep; and more functional space for nurses. The Twig provided $1 million for The Twig Surgical Center and $750,000 for The Twig Pavilion, a critical care unit. The Twig Nursing Scholarship is awarded annually to an employee of Inova Alexandria Hospital to advance his or her nursing education.
On May 22, 2020, The Twig presented the Inova Alexandria Hospital Executive Team with a check for $100,000 for the COVID-19 Emergency Preparedness Fund. The fund provides for: additional staffing; personal protection equipment for our frontline heroes; specialized equipment for the unique needs of COVID-19 patients; increased services for homebound families; and other resources to address the rapidly changing situation.
