Yes. Every guest receives a printed copy of this year’s tour book. Your book is your ticket and your guide to the homes, with details about each stop along the way.
Yes. The tour is self-guided, so you can visit the homes in any order and take as much time as you like between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m. Head hostesses and volunteer docents are stationed throughout each home to share its history and answer questions.
The tour takes place in light rain, so please dress for the weather, as you’ll be walking between homes. In the event of severe weather, the tour will be postponed to the following Saturday, October 3, 2026. Any change will be announced on our website and by email to ticket holders.
Children under 12 are not allowed inside the homes; however, infants carried by an adult are welcome. Strollers must be left outside the homes.
No. Out of respect for our homeowners’ privacy, no photography or video of the homes is permitted.
None of the tour homes were built with accessibility in mind. Many include stairs and narrow passages. Please contact us in advance if you have questions about a particular concern.
No pets and no smoking, please, inside or around the tour homes.

Street parking is available throughout most of the tour area, including metered and 2- and 3-hour zones. Please read the signs carefully, as regulations are strictly enforced. For an affordable all-day option, the Courthouse Square Garage (111 South Pitt Street) offers weekend parking at $1/hour, up to a $5 daily maximum — about four blocks from the heart of Old Town. (Note: the Market Square/City Hall garage is closed for renovation in 2026.) You can also register for a 24-hour parking pass through the Alexandria Convention and Visitors Bureau at visitalexandria.com.
